Montgomery Reserve Playground

Repeat-visit favourite

We've been to Montgomery Reserve Playground more times than I can count, and it still doesn't disappoint. Located in Belmont, Devonport, it's one of those playgrounds that earns repeat visits, not because it's the flashiest around, but because it consistently delivers a great family outing from start to finish.

Ship-themed play

The playground was freshly renovated and, as of April 2026, it's still in excellent shape. The ship-themed design is a real hit with the kids. There's something about climbing around a big play structure that looks like a vessel that gets them every time. It's a large setup, so there's plenty to explore and kids rarely run out of things to do.

Access for everyone

One thing that stands out is how accessible the whole space is. The surfaces are pram- and wheelchair-friendly throughout, and there's a dedicated toddler area for little ones. Whether you've got a baby in a pram, a toddler finding their feet, or older kids who want a proper run-around, this playground genuinely caters to everyone without compromise.

Green space and crowd

Beyond the play equipment, the surrounding green space is vast and well kept, ideal for a game of frisbee or simply spreading out a picnic blanket and taking it easy. There's shade, picnic tables, and enough open room that it never feels cramped, even when other families are around. The crowd level tends to stay on the peaceful side, which makes it all the more enjoyable.

Parking and safety

Parking is easy along Montgomery Avenue and Wicklow Road, and the area is rated very safe, something that always matters when you're keeping an eye on little ones. All in all, Montgomery Reserve is a well-rounded, welcoming playground that's earned its place as a regular stop for our family. Highly recommended.
