North Shore Playgrounds ("we", "us") operates this website to help families discover playgrounds on Auckland's North Shore. We respect your privacy and aim to be clear about what information is involved when you use the site.
Information we collect
Technical data. Like most websites, hosting and infrastructure may automatically process data such as your IP address, browser type, general region, and pages visited. This helps keep the site secure and understand how it is used.
Information you provide. If you email us, we receive your email address and anything you choose to include in your message. If you post a visitor note on a playground page, we collect the note text, the name or alias you enter, your email address, and whether you opted in to email alerts about new notes on that playground.
Visitor notes
Name or alias and note text may be shown publicly on the relevant playground page. Your email address is not published. We use it to discourage misuse, to contact you about your note if needed, and — only if you tick the optional box — to email you when new visitor notes are posted on that playground.
We store visitor notes and related details with our database provider (Supabase) so the board can be shown on the site. A hashed version of your IP address may also be stored for a limited time to reduce spam and duplicate votes.
How we use information
We use the information above to publish visitor notes you submit, respond to enquiries, operate and improve the website, send playground note alerts where you have opted in, fix issues, and protect against abuse or unauthorised access.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with service providers who help us host or operate the site (for example cloud hosting and our database provider), only as needed for those services and subject to appropriate safeguards.
Cookies
The site may use cookies or similar technologies that are essential for basic functionality (for example load balancing, security, remembering that you have already voted on a visitor note, or letting you edit or delete your own note from the same browser for a short time). If we add optional analytics or similar tools in future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent.
Retention
We keep visitor notes while they remain useful on the site, and may hide or delete notes that are false, advertising, abusive, or no longer accurate. Emails and related correspondence are kept only as long as needed to respond and handle follow-up, unless a longer period is required for legal or operational reasons. You can ask us to delete your note or email at the address below.
Your rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you may request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you. Contact us at the email below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Children
This site is intended for parents and caregivers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have received such information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
