Norman King Playground

Northcote

About this playground

A simple playground in front of Northcote Library, best for a quick stop. It has older equipment: a multi-seat spring see-saw, one belt swing, and small monkey bars for younger kids. Restrooms are in the nearby library, with picnic tables and easy parking at the Savemart Northcote lot across the street.

At a glance

  • Small, no-frills playground right in front of Northcote Library - better as a quick stop than a destination outing
  • Simple equipment mix including a spring see-saw, single belt swing, low monkey bars, and a blue whale spring rider
  • Monkey bars are especially well suited to pre-schoolers, with a height that feels manageable but still fun
  • Easy parking at nearby Savemart Northcote and library restrooms on hand, though cleanliness can vary

What's at this playground?

  • A multi-seat spring see-saw
  • A single belt swing
  • A small monkey bar climbing frame
  • A blue whale-shaped spring rider on the grass for younger children

Small, simple, and convenient

Right in front of Northcote Library, this is a no-frills little playground that is best described as a convenient stop rather than a destination. The equipment is on the older side and does not look like it has had a lot of recent attention, but everything is functional and, for young children, it does the job.

The monkey bars are set at a height that works really well for pre-schoolers: low enough to feel manageable, with just enough challenge to feel satisfying. Our kids, who are still on the shorter side, took to them immediately and kept going back. It is a small detail, but it made a real difference to how much they got out of the visit.

Library-side practical perks

Being right outside the library gives the whole space an open, safe feel. A few picnic tables are scattered around, making it easy to sit down for a snack or a simple lunch.

Restrooms are available thanks to the library right there, though when we visited in May 2026 they were not exactly in pristine condition. Functional, but only just, and worth knowing ahead of time.

Easy parking

Parking is straightforward. The Savemart Northcote car park right across the way is reliably quiet and spacious, so that is rarely a concern.

All up, this is a decent stop if you are already in the area, particularly with younger kids in tow.
