Seine Reserve Playground

Forrest Hill

About this playground

A fully fenced, colourful playground that feels safe, visible, and family friendly. Offers a solid mix of equipment, including a play tower, climbing features, swings, and a horse seesaw. Unique wooden monkey bars are quite high, so better suited for older kids. No toilets or water fountain and limited shade, but great for a quick visit with easy street parking.

At a glance

  • Fully fenced, colourful playground in a well-maintained residential reserve that's safe, visible, and welcoming
  • Good equipment variety: multi-level tower, climbing wall, cargo nets, balance poles, swings, horse seesaw, and concrete tunnel blocks
  • Wooden monkey bars are a unique touch, but they sit high and are better suited to roughly Year 3 and above
  • No toilets or water fountain, and only one small shade sail, but it's still a great quick stop with easy weekday street parking

Bright, cheerful first impression

Seine Reserve Playground doesn't announce itself loudly, but pull up alongside it and the riot of colour immediately draws you in. Bright orange swings, vivid climbing structures, and brightly painted balance poles make it one of those playgrounds that just feels cheerful from the first glance. That visual energy sets a positive tone for the whole visit before the kids have even unbuckled their seatbelts.

Room to move

The reserve itself is generously sized, with a well-kept grassy area stretching out beyond the play equipment. There's plenty of room for a run-around, a casual kick of the ball, or spreading out a picnic rug. The lawn is neatly maintained, and the whole space has the feel of somewhere that gets regular attention. Because it sits within a residential neighbourhood and stays highly visible from surrounding streets, it also feels passively safe in a way parents quickly appreciate.

Fenced and easy to supervise

The playground is fully fenced, which is always a major plus for younger families. Toddlers can roam with far less worry about wandering, and the enclosed layout keeps everything compact and easy to supervise. Equipment coverage is solid for a neighbourhood park: a multi-level play tower with a green slide and colourful ladder, a rock-climbing wall and cargo rope nets for adventurous kids, balance poles and stepping stumps, a classic orange swing set, and a horse-themed spring seesaw that younger children usually love. Concrete tunnel blocks near the grass are simple but consistently spark imaginative play.

Unique monkey bars, with a caveat

One detail worth calling out is the monkey bars. They're made from wooden bars rather than standard metal, which gives the playground a distinctive character. The trade-off is height: they sit quite high off the ground, so they are better suited to Year 3-age children and above. Younger or smaller kids may find them out of reach, so it's worth setting expectations before they spot them.

Facilities and parking

Facilities are fairly minimal. There is one shade sail, but it's small and doesn't cover much of the play area on hot days, which is the biggest downside of an otherwise well-composed spot. There are no toilets and no water fountain, so come prepared with drinks and a quick bathroom plan. A few benches are positioned with clear sightlines over the playground, which at least makes supervision comfortable.

Street parking is the main option, and outside weekend peaks it is generally relaxed and easy enough to find. Overall, Seine Reserve Playground is a vibrant, tidy, and unexpectedly well-equipped neighbourhood playground. It's not a destination park, but exactly the kind of local spot you're glad exists for a quick stop, a toddler outing, or an easy afternoon reset.
