Lansdowne Reserve Playground

Bayswater

About this playground

A very small playground at the western end of Shoal Bay Reserve in Bayswater. It only has swings and a small play area for toddlers, but you can’t go wrong with the scenery.

At a glance

  • Tucked into quiet residential Bayswater, this is a very small playground with just the essentials: toddler slide, one large net swing, one toddler swing, and one standard swing
  • What it lacks in equipment, it makes up for in setting, with direct views over Shoal Bay and beautiful sunset light
  • At low tide, kids can explore the exposed sandflats, and a picnic table beside the play area makes it easy to slow down
  • Street parking is easy nearby, and Bayswater School Playground plus Marine Parade Reserve are simple add-on stops

Tiny playground, beautiful setting

Tucked away at the western edge of Bayswater on Lansdowne Street, this is about as small as playgrounds get. There is a toddler slide, a large net-style round swing, a toddler swing, and a regular swing. That is genuinely everything.

Even with minimal equipment, the setting makes this one memorable. The playground looks straight out over Shoal Bay, and the view is genuinely lovely. Around sunset, it is especially hard to beat. The whole reserve feels calm and unhurried, with a quiet residential backdrop that helps everyone settle into a slower pace.

Low tide bonus and picnic pause

At low tide, the exposed sandflats out front invite an easy wander into the bay, which becomes a fun little bonus for both kids and adults. A small picnic table sits right beside the playground, making this a peaceful place to snack, reset, and take in the view without rushing.

Parking and nearby add-on spots

Street parking is straightforward along Lansdowne Street or nearby Beresford Street. If you have a bit more time, two nearby stops are worth considering: Bayswater School Playground (check opening hours first, as it is on school grounds) and Marine Parade Reserve, which also has generous parking and works well as an easy add-on visit.
