Glen Bay Close Reserve Playground
Pinehill
About this playground
Adjacent to a very wide open grass reserve, the playground offers a spacious and scenic environment for families to relax and for children to run around freely.
At a glance
- Two-zone layout — a pyramid spider net and swings for older kids, plus a toddler swing and small slide
- Pram-friendly throughout, with a dedicated pathway alongside the playground
- Generous grassy area — great for frisbee, catch, or just letting the kids run
- Limited parking on-site (2–3 spaces each side) — street parking nearby is the safer bet
Calm in plain sight
Glen Bay Close Reserve Playground sits right on a main road, directly opposite the Hugh Green Drive bus stop — not exactly a hidden gem by location, but once you step into the reserve itself, it has a surprisingly calm and unhurried feel. It's the kind of neighbourhood playground that doesn't demand much of you, and somehow that's exactly what makes it work.
The playground is split into two zones, which is a nice touch for a spot this size. One side has about four swings, while the other features a decent-sized pyramid spider net that gives older kids something genuinely fun to scramble up. For the little ones, there's a toddler swing and a small baby slide — nothing elaborate, but enough to keep them happily occupied. There are benches positioned well for parents to sit back, relax, and just watch the kids do their thing. Sometimes that's all you need.

Things worth knowing
One of the standout practical features here is that it's fully pram-friendly. A proper pathway runs alongside the playground, so pushing a stroller around is no issue at all — something that's surprisingly rare and genuinely appreciated. The grassy area alongside is also fairly generous for the size of the reserve, making it easy to set up a game of frisbee or a bit of catch while the kids move between the equipment and the open space.
You might walk in and think "there's not much here" — and in terms of sheer equipment count, that's fair. But then you think about what this corner of the neighbourhood would feel like without it, and the place quietly earns its keep. It's well maintained, tidy, and clearly looked after. On the parking front, there are a couple of spaces on each side of the reserve entrance, but they're limited enough that nearby street parking is probably the more reliable option.

Bottom line
We weren't expecting much when we pulled up, but our kids played happily for a solid thirty minutes and left in good spirits. For a quick stop, a relaxed afternoon stretch, or a neighbourhood outing without the faff of a big destination playground, Glen Bay Close Reserve does the job just fine.
